WHOSE TENNIS ERA NOW?

Psalm 119:133
Direct my steps by Your Word.

It's been a long year since I was fascinated in tennis it was introduced to me by accident non other than by my late father I was then a ?Teener's and my father was a self-confess sports fanatic from boxing, basketball, tennis, golf, or even hard sport like wrestling I adopted watching all of them but I wasn't confused of my gender..err..know I'm certified straight. Nobody can turn the knob on the TV or hold a remote control when my father is watching so definitely I'm glued to whatever he is watching on, so I'm very much updated who won the grand slam of the so and so sports per se.

It was at the heights of Agassi and Graf tennis career then which both end up being husband and wife. Agassi was then taking all the glory - the long hair wham look, the headband, and has been called the best service returner in the history of the game. He won eight Grand Slam singles tournaments in 15 Major finals and he was the first male player to win all four Majors on three different surfaces (Hard, Clay and Grass). 2nd male to receive the Career Grand Slam and also 17 ATP Master Title Series. Agassi is the last American to win the French Open (1999) and the Australian Open (2003). He retired at the age of 36 on September 3, 2006 after suffering from sciatica caused by two bulging discs in his back, a spondylolisthesis (vertebral displacement) and a bone spur that interfered with the nerve.

Side by side of Agassi's glory is Steffi Graf she won 22 grand slam titles second among female and male players, became the only tennis player who (male or female) to achieve the Calendar Year Golden Slam by winning all four Grand Slam singles titles and the Olympic gold medal in the same calendar year. She also holds the open era record for finishing as the year-end World No. 1 the most times, having done so on eight occasions. She won 107 singles titles. Her versatility across all playing surfaces, having won each of the four Grand Slams at least four times, the only player to do so. She won six French Open singles titles (second to Evert) and seven Wimbledon singles title.

She is the only singles player to have achieved a Calendar Year Grand Slam while playing on all three major types of tennis courts (grass courts, clay courts and hard courts). She reached thirteen consecutive Grand Slam singles finals, from the 1987 French Open through to the 1990 French Open winning nine of them. She played in 36 Grand Slam singles tournaments and winning 22 titles. She reached a total of 31 Grand Slam singles finals. Graf is considered by some to be the greatest female player. Billy Jean King also said in 1999, "Steffi is definitely the greatest women's tennis player of all time". She retired in 1999 with the rank of a World No. 3. When she was 13-year-old Graf was ranked World No. 124. She won no titles during the next three years, but her ranking climbed steadily until World No. 98 in 1983, No. 22 in 1984, and No. 6 in 1985.

Before the two former world no. 1 tennis player fades away in the scene, my passion in tennis is gradually fading too until I finished school and had my own bread and butter. Since then I never knew who was then taking all the glory in the tennis world, until last year 2010 of May when I accidentally open the Television set and it was Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer playing on that moment, the style of Rafa was caught me unattended that he took my attention of watching the tennis again after a long time of missing it little did I know that it was also the heights of his comeback who was then won 9 grand slam singles title and also been called as the "King of Clay". I saw in him the Agassi Era and it was Rafa who brings back my passion for tennis until then I'd never failed a single match to watch especially his match.

But before the end of 2010 a few times Rafa lost in the final and when 2011 has begun things got better to him when he won 2 times in clay in Monte Carlo and Barcelona everybody is eyeing on him that he is going to win on the Madrid Open his homeland but Nole won instead, they face again in the final in Rome, Italy but then it was Nole again who won. Now both are playing in Roland Garros, will Rafa stay as World No. 1 or Nole will as the year end.

The question is who's tennis era now, will it be Rafa again or Nole?
